I knew I was overweight for more than a decade already but it took a long time for me to acknowledge that I was already morbidly obese. I started noticing when I took lesser photos of myself because truth is, I didn’t like what I was seeing anymore. I felt like my face was going to burst anytime because I was so fat. I felt embarrassed not for myself but for my husband and son. I felt it was unfair of me to just let myself stay as obese as I was and let them worry about my health. Finally in June, after a friend who was seemingly very fit and healthy had a mild heart attack, my prayer was answered because this prompted me to attend the information session at the Cohen’s Lifestyle Centre.

Before the Cohen Program I was always around food. I run a small restaurant and catering business, plus I also do recipe development for a major food brand. That gave me a reason to justify how I ate mindlessly and frequently. Aside from that, my family loves food and we would always find a reason to celebrate and gather around food. I would eat whatever food that is in front of me, whether I was hungry or not. I also didn’t take breakfast on most days and eat a lot come lunch and dinner. On most days, I feel very lethargic and was always tired. I was also experiencing some chest pains and feared that I might have a heart attack. My cholesterol levels were high and I was already prescribed medication to control it. I used to go to the gym but not regularly. I also tried treatments like Radio Frequency (RF) previously and consumed diet pills, which had real side effects.

The Cohen program helps you lose weight and gives you a specific target to work towards to ie. Goal Weight. I would also like to emphasize that one is not required to purchase any additional products for the program to work. It encourages us to attain our goal weight as soon as possible, unlike other programs which do not provide specific goals except to lose some amount of weight. It is amazing how it only takes the right food choices to act as a solution for obesity.

I really didn’t have any difficulty adapting to the Cohen’s lifestyle except that I had to make better choices while doing our grocery shopping. I also had to get used to bringing my own food when our family ate out and not be embarrassed by it.

I am very happy and thankful with the results of the Cohen program. I am now within my normal weight and I feel much, much healthier. I am also certain that my family is very happy with the changes and relieved that they don’t have to worry about my health anymore. My blood pressure has normalized without my maintenance medication. I no longer experience chest pains and I don’t snore loudly anymore. One of the best results of the Cohen program is how happy most of the people around me have become. I didn’t expect to generate such overwhelming positive feedback even from people I haven’t heard from for ages. I am so grateful that my family, relatives, friends and even just acquaintances are all very supportive. It truly made the journey so much more worth it. My son has become my Cohen police all throughout the 11-months by making sure I didn’t eat anything that was not allowed and used his hug to measure how much I have lost already. That alone is such a blessing and pure delight.

For those struggling with their weight issues, one of the first things to do is to acknowledge that you are overweight. One needs to accept this first before being able to take the necessary steps to cure obesity.

Pray for the will-power and determination to do something about it. It takes the right mindset to undergo the program. To start the program half-heartedly will be a sure way to fail and fall off the program. Just follow what is in the manual and do not compare your progress with others. Our bodies all have different ways of responding to the changes and as long as you do not deviate, you will eventually reach your goal weight.

Lastly, surround yourself with positive and supportive people. Go with those who will help you go through the program instead of being negative and tempting you to deviate.
